Rodent Control Sydney
Protecting Sydney properties from costly rodent infestations.
Rats and mice are among the most destructive pests in Sydney, contaminating food, spreading disease and damaging property. They are highly adaptable, fast breeders and can survive in both homes & businesses where food, water and shelter are available. At Alpha Carpet & Pest Solutions, we us know how to spot the signs early and put the right plan in place to clear them out and keep them from coming back.
Rats or Mice? Whatβs the difference?
Rodent problems usually come down to two culprits: rats or mice. While they may seem similar, their behaviour and the damage they cause are quite different.
Whether itβs rats or mice, both bring health risks and property damage. Knowing the difference helps us apply the most effective treatment to clear them out and stop them coming back.
Rat
Rats are larger, stronger and more destructive. Theyβre excellent climbers and often nest in roof voids, wall cavities or even outside in burrows. Their constant gnawing can damage electrical wiring, timber and stored goods, creating serious safety hazards. Rats are cautious by nature, which makes them harder to trap or bait without the right knowledge.
Mouse
Mice are much smaller but reproduce at a faster rate. They tend to live indoors, close to food and warmth, and can contaminate kitchens and pantries with droppings and urine. Because of their size, they can squeeze through tiny gaps and establish nests quickly.
Why Rodents Are A Serious Problem
Health & Hygiene Risks
Rodents spread bacteria such as salmonella and leptospirosis through their droppings, urine and fur. Food, kitchen surfaces and storage areas can quickly become contaminated, turning a minor rodent issue into a major health hazard
Costly Property Damage
Gnawing is part of a rodentβs nature. Their teeth never stop growing. Cables, insulation, timber and even plumbing are common targets. This doesnβt just cost money to repair, chewed wire can create a serious fire risk.
Food Contamination
Rodents contaminate far more food than they actually eat. Droppings, urine and gnaw marks mean whole bags or boxes often need to be thrown away. In homes, it leads to wasted groceries, while in businesses it can mean failed food safety standards and costly stock losses.
Fast Infestations
Mice can have 6 to 10 litters per year, and rats about 5 to 6 per year. That means what starts as a small problem can grow into a large infestation in just a few months if itβs not treated quickly.
